The Geneva Environment Network (GEN) was set up in 1999. The GEN secretariat, supported by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment and led by UNEP, is based at the International Environment House. It actively promotes increased cooperation and networking between its members. GEN strengthens positive interactions between environmental organizations and activities to encourage interactions between environmental activities and those relating to social and economic development.
